Art Therapy—What is it?
Art therapists are professionals trained in both art and therapy. By integrating psychological theories, human development, and multicultural and artistic traditions, art therapists work with individuals and groups to build skills in the arts and to foster growth. By using the arts, many people are also able to increase their own awareness of themselves, others, their environment, and the world around them.
Igniting and engaging in the creative process with a trusted witness, producing art that you care about, gaining insights into patterns and choices, and feeling a greater sense of success and what it means to be alive, are just some of the benefits of Art Therapy at ART UP.
